**What is common between the following sets of products?
Rapid Spot Reductions Drops + Acne Control Cleanser Overnight Glow Mask + Vitamin C Serum AHA BHA Exfoliating Serum + Overnight Glow Mask**
If asked overall, as in what’s common between the 3 sets- I feel it’s about targeting the issue not just at surface level but going deeper than that. All 3 sets are made in a way they ADD ON to each other’s performance.
They target LAYERED SKIN ISSUES.
While one focuses more on immediate result, the other one treats the whole issue in long term. Its like they are best team.
For example ‘Spot reduction’ is paired with ‘acne control’
Now generally spots happen after acne, especially when (especially picky ladies) can’t stop popping their breakouts and touching it a 1000 times with fingers that look clean…but carry bacteria.
What happens in this case is the more you pick on your acne, the more time it takes for your skin to naturally heal that portion by increasing collagen production.
The science behind this is that when you have inflammation on your skin, your body produces more melanin to protect the inflammed area and trigger new skin cells. Bottom line is that if you have inflammation and it gets darker than your regular skin color, initially it’s a sign that yes your body knows its sh*t! It knows what it is knowing.
Now for the products, the spot reduction serum has trenaxamic acid and niacinamide, both are great for regulating melanin production as well as calming the skin hence regulating the inflammation and providing a much more FIRM skin.
Now imagine you are using the serum to target spots (which is caused by breakouts) but then you are not targeting the cause of those breakouts. That would be stupid right?
Which is why pairing it up with acne control cleanser is a better solution. Salicylic acid - less oil production - less trapping of dirt- less trauma for your skin - less drama for you.
In healthcare terms this is like treat not just the symptom, but treat the cause from within.
An even better way to market this duo would be to tell people what changes to make in their lifestyle for this duo to work EVEN faster. Food, water, sleep bla bla all those things yes but what’s even more important is to protect the surface.
No touchy touchy at random hour of the day. Use clean towels to wipe or air dry your face. What people don’t realise is the towel they hang in bathroom stays damp which is a great condition for bacteria to thrive. If they can’t use new/washed towels everyday, the least they can do is dry the face towel in sun at least.
There’s always an alternative. Always.
Similarly for the second duo-
We lose 1000s of skincells every hour. And those little spookies could just fall off but they won’t. They want to cause trouble and they do. They turn into blackheads, whiteheads, acne and what not.
The overnight glow mask - basically exfoliants in a bottle. Clearing away those spookies from the surface is their job and that’s what they do.
Now pair it up Vit C shots and that thing is going to remove the free radicals roaming on our skin as if is free real estate.
Free radicals - stupid stuff released during metabolism that loves to oxidise and we all know how an apple looks when its oxidised.
Vit C - fights those free radicals - leads to reduction in oxidation that happens just beneath the skin - helps with regenerating antioxidant form of Vit E - stabilises collagen molecules - leads to healthier, plumpier and brighter skin.
Both of them work on removing stuff. One works more of surface level while the other works more on ground level.
If our skin is the flight, then overnight glow mask is the pilot and Vit C serum is the ATC.
Similarly the third duo- its basically similar products, better version in different form. Although personally I don’t support using them together, especially for super sensitive skin (mine is) because both of them are exfoliants but if anyone’s skin CAN handle them together, this would be amazing duo and pretty much make 2/3 of a skincare routine for the nights you want to GET RID of spookies from your skin.
And the good part is that both of them hydrating and moisturising ingredients which balances out the harsh nature of exfoliants so its a win-win situation.
What are 3 differences between the following products? Matte Sunscreen + Ultramatte SPF & Primer
Just making sure that these are the two products we are talking about -
Majorly what I see is -
Primary Function: Matte Finish Sunscreen focuses on sun protection with a natural matte effect- like a second skin effect while Ultramatte SPF 50+ acts as both a sunscreen and a primer, creating a smooth base for makeup and by what I know, it should be working by not only providing sun protection but also absorping excess oil because one of the major problems of applying makeup over sunscreen, piling being another problem.
Finish: Obviously. This is in the name itself. Matte Sunscreen provides a lightweight matte finish, whereas Ultramatte SPF gives an ultra-matte finish however I think its more about what matters. Both the products might be catering to 2 different group of people.
Group 1 would prefer just skincare and they are done for the day. They are pretty confident in their skin, either don’t do makeup on a daily basis or just don’t feel like it on certain days. They would incline more towards the Matte finish sunscreen for sun protection as well as something that gives a clean skin look as it’s the last step in their daycare routine. This step would matter a lot as it decides their skin’s mood through out the whole day.
Group 2 would be the girls who have got the talent to pull off makeup…that too on top of sunscreen!!! (If I am wearing sunscreen, I can’t think of applying even a cc cream) Now for these women, the ultramatte spf + primer is the best option cuz why do they need to compromise on protecting their skin just to look prettier? They can have both and this product is the solution.
So I think the FINISH matters more in terms of where the product is going to sit in their routine.
Skin Prep: Although this one is an extension of the reason above only, the Ultramatte spf doubles as a makeup primer, ideal for long-lasting makeup application, while Matte Sunscreen is more of a standalone protector.
Again, it’s about the purpose, if I have a summer pool party to attend but I also wanna wear makeup cuz I invested half of my kidney price in waterproof makeup…I am going to choose the spf + primer for protection. But if I am feeling too confident or its just a regular day…or perhaps an ethnic day in the office and I wanna have a clean girlie look, I would choose the matte sunscreen.
